Description Method: Pumpkins in beautiful autumnal colours are turned into large squares then joined by the Zigzag Slip Stitch Join (representing the twisting vines and tendrils). A simple border then frames the pumpkin patch. This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms. It contains written round by round instructions, step by step photos, and photo tutorials for all special stitches. A separate Zigzag Slip Stitch Join tutorial pdf is also included. Size: Worked at the gauge stated below the completed blanket measures approx. 49” (124 cm) square. Instructions are given for the blanket pictured, which was constructed with 25 Pumpkin Patch squares joined in a 5×5 configuration. However, the border is designed to accommodate any configuration and number of squares that you wish so that you can make larger or smaller square or even rectangular blankets. Notes to help with this are included. Gauge: Using Chunky (Bulky) yarn completed square measures approx. 9” (23 cm). Using worsted weight (aran), DK or 4 ply yarn will result in a smaller square, using jumbo yarn will result in a larger square. Yarn: This pattern was designed with Cygnet Chunky, a 100% acrylic yarn with 155m in 100g balls. You can use any weight and fiber of yarn that you like to make your blanket, just use an appropriately sized hook for the yarn that you are using. To make the blanket shown I used the following quantities of Cygnet Chunky: Yarn A – Pumpkin 742 – approx. 280m (306 yards) Yarn B – Gold 686 – approx. 200m (220 yards) Yarn C – Cream 256 – approx. 190m (208 yards) Yarn D – Kiwi 333 – approx. 160m (175 yards) Yarn E – Seafoam 449 – approx. 255m (279 yards) Yarn F – Teal 428 – approx. 280m (306 yards) Yarn G – Chocolate 297- approx. 300m (330 yards) Hook: 6mm (J) crochet hook for Chunky (Bulky) yarn (or size appropriate for your yarn) Other Materials Required: Scissors Stitch markers Tape measure Darning needle for sewing in ends.
